3 Visual for zine cover
My first one is to represent the idea of when time passes your memories of the person you lost start fading away. I thought I could link it to how a tree sheds it leaves showing that because this boy is young his memory of the person he lost will get foggier and foggier. To link it to school I made him dressed in his uniform and backpack either walking to or from school. Overall, this isn't my favourite of the 3 visuals, however its an interesting concept.
This is my second visual for a zine cover, inspired by the idea of emotional baggage while dealing with the stress of school work and exams. I exaggerated the size of the bag, left a zip open- to show emptiness, the feeling of a massive weight on your shoulders and feeling emotionless about anything other than the bereavement you are going through. I added of shadow made from the background to really explain the idea that this baggage the boy is carrying derived from the loss of his father.
This design is linking both the idea of education in high school and the pressure you are under with the idea of loss. I used the pencil as the way to rub out the person that the boy has lost. I changed the position of the hand of the boy to make it less interactive with the pencil, however, I think the boy needs to look straight on to emphasise that he had no way of stopping the loss from happening. I love the use of bright colours, how the boy is more obviously in a uniform and I think that also makes the audience aware that it's about something happening to a boy in school.
